Travelling to Prague (region)

Prague, with its beautiful medieval city center, boasts a rich history, an incredible array of cultural offerings, and a vibrant nightlife. Shop in trendy fashion stores, peaceful antique shops, and modern shopping centers. Explore the variety of bars and restaurants, most within walking distance, and at surprisingly low prices.

The Old Town in Morning Light A walk across the Charles Bridge in the morning light is a true experience. Notable sights include the Old Town Square with the Tyn Church. On the opposite side of the square is the famous 15th-century astronomical clock. Prague Castle is also worth a visit—don't miss peeking inside the St. Vitus Cathedral. If you're an early riser, take a quiet stroll through the Jewish Quarter and feel the whisper of history. Wrap up with a stop at a café around the square.

"Meet at the Horse's Tail" Strolling up Wenceslas Square is also a must. The square holds significant symbolic value for protests against foreign occupation and sports triumph celebrations. At the top of Wenceslas Square is Myslbek’s famous horse statue from 1912. The statue’s tail is undoubtedly the most popular meeting spot for locals. Nearby, you’ll find the impressive State Opera. Take the funicular up to Petřín Park. There's a replica of the Eiffel Tower, just a third the size, with 299 steps to a splendid view. To admire the city from above, we recommend the TV tower, which stands at 216 meters.

Shopping in Prague Prague is becoming a shopping mecca. The Parizska Street features fashionable brand stores, and Na Prikope offers more everyday branded stores. You can also explore large department stores. Discover hand-painted domestic ceramics, classic and modern crystal designs from Bohemia, and Czech quality leather goods. Don’t forget to pick up jewelry items such as garnet and amber, or perhaps a bottle of Becherovka, the Czech national drink.

Dining in Prague Czech home-cooked meals are served in large portions, tempting any food lover. However, Prague offers much more. Popular spots like Kogo in the Old Town serve Italian cuisine comparable to Italy's best. American diners and numerous ethnic restaurants mean you won’t go hungry. For budget-friendly local meals, try self-service options that offer good food and generous portions at reasonable prices.

Jazz Dens and Classical Music Prague is big on jazz. Cool spots nurture new talents, while various cafes and bars draw intellectuals. For classical music, the Philarmonic in the Rudolfinum is unrivaled, with concerts in numerous venues around the city, including churches and outdoor spaces during summer.

Family-Friendly Prague Prague Zoo is a wonderful experience for all ages, perfect for a day-long adventure. Europe’s second-largest display of vintage toys can be found in Prague Castle. Petřín Park offers a green, car-free oasis for little lungs and legs. Witness the changing of the guard at Prague Castle every hour, with fanfare at noon. Refresh with a dip in one of the city’s outdoor pools or visit Aquapalace Prague, Central Europe's largest water park, located a short drive from the city center. Chocolate lovers shouldn’t miss the chocolate museum for an indulgent and informative experience.

Recommendations "House at the Black Madonna" A café featuring cubist interiors and coffee cups, plus a shop on the ground floor.

"Bretton Books" One of the many charming antiquarian bookshops in the old town.

"Alphonse Mucha Museum" A small and charming tribute to perhaps the most famous artist among the founders of Art Nouveau.

"U Provaznice" A delightful local pub and simpler eatery in the center, popular with both tourists and locals.

Consider exploring Prague from the Vltava River, perhaps the best way for tired feet to get to know the city. Enjoy a 2.5-hour boat tour with breakfast on board. Alternatively, a short city tour offers a good, compact overview of some attractions in the 'Golden City.'
