Dubrovnik – limestone, cliff bathing and evenings that linger
There is something special about waking up within the city walls. Limestone streets gleaming in the morning light, laundry hanging between the houses and the Adriatic Sea just around the corner. Two nights are enough to feel the rhythm.
Walk the city walls early before it gets hot, take a break at a cliff bar with your feet almost in the water and let the evening begin with a glass of wine in an alley that only gets prettier as the sun sets. Dubrovnik is both dramatic and relaxed at the same time. History, swimming and late dinners all within a few minutes’ walk.
Dubrovnik is not just city walls and cobbled alleys. Here, the sea is always close. Start the morning with a walk along the walls while the sun warms the limestone, and end it with a dip from the cliffs below the town.
Take the stairs down to Buža Bar where you swim straight out into the Adriatic Sea between servings. Or walk towards Banje Beach for a more classic beach day with a view of the old town. Everything is within reach. City, swimming and evenings that slip into night without you needing to plan.
Two nights here set the tone. You arrive in the warmth, get both city buzz and sea at the same time – before it is time to take the ferry on towards island life.
Ferry to Korčula – simple and smooth
The ferry to Korčula departs from the port in Gruž in Dubrovnik. The journey takes about 2 hours and is operated by TP Line and Jadrolinija. You sit comfortably while the coastline passes outside the window and step off right in the centre of Korčula town.
It is a smooth transition from city to island – without long transfers.
Korčula – swimming around the corner and evenings at just the right pace
On Korčula you stay near the old town where the ferry docks. You can easily walk to your accommodation and have both restaurants and swimming spots within reach.
Korčula is sometimes called little Dubrovnik, but the pace here is something else entirely. The old town lies on a small peninsula, surrounded by walls and sea on all sides. Narrow alleys in a herringbone pattern protect against the wind, the houses are built in light stone and the square fills with life as the sun begins to set.
It is a place where you quickly find your routines. A morning dip before breakfast. An ice cream break in the shade in the middle of the day. A glass of local wine when the heat eases.
Around the city walls you will find cliffs and bathing platforms with crystal-clear water. Walk towards Banje Beach for a pebble beach, or jump in from the cliffs at Zakerjan with views of the Pelješac peninsula. If you want an even slower pace, taxi boats go to the small islands of Badija and Vrnik with even clearer water and fewer people.
The evenings? Small wine bars, restaurants in the alleys and a pace that is just right. Four nights give you time both to do things and to do nothing at all.
One last evening in Dubrovnik
After the days on Korčula you take the ferry back to Dubrovnik for a final night. No stress before the journey home. Just one last dinner, an evening walk through the alleys and perhaps a morning dip before your flight.
A relaxing way to round off the week.
